What is the Franklin County
Regional Chamber of Commerce?
The Chamber is a voluntary
organization of business and professional men and women who have joined
together for the purpose of promoting the civic commercial progress of our community.
The Franklin County Regional
Chamber of Commerce was organized in 1963.
The area’s economic wellbeing
is related directly to the caliber of work that is done by the Chamber. That is
why the Franklin County Regional Chamber of Commerce has a major impact on
business, income and future growth.
There are three primary
functions of our Chamber of Commerce: (1) it acts as the spokesperson for the
business and professional community, (2) it renders specific services of a type
that can be most effectively rendered by a community organization both to its
members and the community as a whole, and (3) it serves as a tourist
information center for St. Albans and Franklin County.
What does the Chamber do for its
Community?
The Chamber is active in
community events and with other organizations. The Chamber helps to organize
many events for local businesses and community members to enjoy. The Chamber
networks with other organizations and the communities in Franklin County
to be a source of information for its residents and visitors.
How does the Chamber Operate
Board of Directors- the Board of Directors is the policy making body of the Franklin County
Regional Chamber of Commerce. It’s members represent the business and
professional leadership of the community. The Board consists of 12 members. New
members are elected for a two year term. The President chairs all meetings of
the board.
Executive Committee – the Executive Committee consists of the President, President Elect, Vice
President and the Treasurer. It exercises the powers of the board between Board
meetings.
Committees
– A Committee system is the most effective means of harnessing energies and abilities
of volunteer workers. Committees are
responsible to the Board of Directors. We currently have marketing, membership,
government and education, and finance sub committees.
How is the Chamber of Commerce
Financed?
The Franklin County Regional
chamber of commerce is financed primarily by the investment of its members. The
maintenance of an adequate level of support from all business and professional
interests in the community is essential to finance the programs that are vital
to community growth and development. The member’s financial investment may vary
from the minimum of $99.00 per year and up, according to the investment
schedule and based on the number of employees.

Long Term Vision
Our
vision for the Franklin County Regional Chamber of Commerce in the year 2006 is
one of a positive and high profile community image. We continuously seek to
increase membership, develop active committees and foster working relationships
with other community agencies and organizations.
