Welcome

Rail Trail Photo Contest

Get out your cameras and share with us your favorite sights on the Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail! The Northwest Vermont Rail Trail Council is holding a photo contest again this year. Any photos, taken by you, ON, OF, or FROM the MVRT are eligible for the Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail Photo Contest. Contact us at (802) 524-5958 to request an entry form(s) which must be filled out and submitted with each photo you enter in the contest (limit 4 entries per person).

Photos will be judged in one of four categories: 1) nature (wildlife, flora); 2) trail users (humans, pets, trains, 4 seasons); 3) scenery/vistas/views from the MVRT; and 4) trail neighbors (at work, at play).

The Grand Prize winner will receive a professionally framed copy as well as postcards of his/her winning photo. There will be a winner for each of the four categories listed above; each will receive postcards of his/her winning photo. The five prize winning photos and four runner up photos (one per category) will be posted on the Council’s website, www.mvrailtrail.com.

Winner announcement and prize giving will take place at a reception in November at a location in Franklin County to be announced.

Photos must be submitted in hard copy, minimum size 4” x 6”, and in digital format if available. All photos with accompanying entry form and in a sealed envelope must be received at the office of the Northwest Regional Planning Commission (155 Lake St., St. Albans, VT 05478) no later than 4 pm., Friday, October 31, 2008.

Make your outings on the MVRT this season last forever by capturing them in a photo – and you could win postcards of those memories to share with your family and friends.

Call us today for your entry form(s) to participate, (802) 524-5958 or download the form from our website www.mvrailtrail.com.

Whether you walk, ski, or ride, a trip on the Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail takes you into the heart of Northern Vermont's agricultural lands. The trail wanders through the farms, forests, and wetlands of Franklin County.
